LIFE | Beach Day Essentials

Thursday, June 16, 2016

Summertime means plenty of opportunities for fun in the sun! I live for beach days on Lake Michigan + am even more excited to spend them with my mini. Take a look at a few of our beach day essentials!

Canvas Tote + Insulated Lunch Tote x Five Below

The tote is a classic beach item. If you don't bring anything else to the beach you have to have this! Make sure it's big enough to carry your towels + snacks. I recently scored these from Five Below. I'm a sucker for a good pattern. Plus pineapples + anchors are the perfect summer prints. Not only were they $5 each, but very durable throughout the day. The insulated bag kept our waters + Bentlee's bottles cold our entire visit. A plus since I like my beach days to be long.

Sunglasses x Five Below + Target

Sunglasses are a summer staple + create an instant cool factor on the beach. Since I lose my sunglasses more often than I'd like, I try not to splurge on them. I recently have been buying mine from Five Below. They have an on trend selection + are under $5. My mini's sunglasses are from Target. She seemed to like playing with them more than actually wearing them, but they were ready for her when she needed them.

Lip Balm x EOS | Nail Polish x Sally Hansen + Aurora {via Ipsy}

Lip balm + nail polish are essential to my beach beauty routine. I like to keep things natural with minimal makeup. The EOS lip balm is just enough to keep my lips moisturized. {Plus it smells + tastes amazing!} As a new mom, I don't get my nails done as often as I would like to just from being so busy. I use my beach days as an opportunity to switch up my polish. I find it very relaxing, the heat of the sun dries my polish SO FAST + the sand happens to be the ideal exfoliant! Sally Hansen polish is probably my favorite brand. It lasts the longest for me + I like its consistency. The Aurora polish I received in my Ipsy Bag not too long ago, so I was excited to get to use this color, too!

Glass Bottles

Hydration is a key element to a successful beach trip. Like I mentioned earlier, I like my beach days to be long so I have to stay well hydrated to beat the heat. I love glass bottles + I actually up cycled this one from a Huberts Lemonade bottle. A friend of mine even gifted my mini her own glass bottles, which I never even knew was an option. They stay cooler + are easier for cleaning since sand seems to always find its way home with you.

Rash Guard Swimsuit x Target

As much as I love Bentlee's one piece's, too much sun exposure isn't always best for baby. I found this striped rash guard suit at Target. The long sleeves kept her cool + sun free. {Plus we had a huge umbrella for her play underneath.} *An unrelated note to this photo is that she turned 9 months over the weekend too! {I can't believe she will be a year at the end of summer.}
