Basic x Chambray

Friday, January 6, 2017

Welcome to a new style series on The Kierra Quinn, Basic! Every week will feature a staple piece every closet should have. You will learn why you need it, where to find it, + of course how to style it! First up for 2017, CHAMBRAY!

WHY YOU NEED IT
Chambray is another word for denim + a trendier way to button up. Whether you prefer a light or dark wash, the versatility of this piece allows you to mix + match with your wardrobe favorites. Chambray tops are usually more lightweight, which is a great option if you don't like the bulkiness of a denim jacket.

WHERE TO FIND IT
Since the chambray top is such a staple piece, you can pretty much find this piece anywhere! Old Navy, Target, + TJMaxx have great options!

HOW TO STYLE IT
One thing I always consider before I purchase something new {especially a staple piece} is how many ways I can style it. Being able to style pieces multiple ways, keeps you from constantly having to buy more while also keeping your looks fresh.
The Canadian Tuxedo aka Denim on Denim
Pair your chambray top with your favorite jeans. Be sure to mix lighter + darker tones to create balance. I like to add texture with a little {faux} fur for a winter look.
Dress It Up
Elevate your chambray by styling it with luxe pieces like a structured blazer or a skirt.
Layered
One of my favorite things about a chambray top is it's ability to be layered over + under so many pieces. Kick it casual by layering yours over a graphic tee! It's so effortless that even your mini can rock this look!
