Do you know what today is? It's our anniversary!

Seriously guys, 7 years ago Josh + I got married + that's just one of many amazing memories we have together. Regardless of how many changes have come our way over the years, one thing that is constant is D A T E N I G H T ! Spending time together has always been our priority, especially with mom + dad as our new names. I am so happy to say that ever since Bentlee was born we have had at least one date night a month, including baby free weekends! One thing I love about our dates is that we try to experience something different each time. Today I'm sharing our recent anniversary photoshoot, along with 10 date ideas that aren't just dinner + a movie!

Silent Disco
CALLING ALL MUSIC LOVERS! If you have been to a silent disco, then you know why its listed first. If not, you may be wondering what it even is! Lets just say we went to our first silent disco last fall + its STILL hands down our favorite date. It's such a unique musical experience + there's seriously no better way to party. The one we attended was at the Grand Rapids Art Museum for ArtPrize. It was a Past, Present, Future theme + had three DJ's each playing a different genre of music {old school, today's hip hop, + techno/house}. Each guest was given a pair of headphones to listen to each DJ. The room was completely silent, every single person was dancing, and its was absolutely amazing! The headphones changed colors to represent each DJ, so you knew which station everyone was listening to. If you live in Grand Rapids there is ANOTHER SILENT DISCO coming in September. {Sadly we will be on vacation and have to sit this one out!}

A Night at the Museum
Speaking of the GRĀM, add a little culture to your date + check out your local museum. We have FIVE museums located downtown where we live, + the art exhibits are always one of a kind. On specific days some museums host events like swing dancing or fashion shows, have a discounted rate with membership, or are even free after a certain time.

Wine + Charcuterie Picnic
Grab your best bottle of wine + pack up the tastiest meat + cheese pairings for a picnic. Enjoy some fresh air at your favorite park or lake. This kind of cozy date is best for kicking it casual, while being able to just talk + relax. Plus, the picnic can be planned for any time of day.

Cooking Class
Where my foodies at? Instead of going out for dinner, why not make dinner together + by taking a cooking class. In Grand Rapids many classes are offered at the Downtown Market. Most of the time they have a specific theme + aren't the typical dishes you would make at home. It would be a fun way to put your cooking skills to the test.

Tailgate Time
Football season is around the corner + there's nothing better than cheering on your favorite team or stirring up a not so friendly rivalry. If someone would have told me 7 years ago that I would eventually LOVE football, I wouldn't have believed it. One of my favorite memories with Josh is the first time we went to a Lions game together. The atmosphere was electric + it was fun doing something that Josh genuinely enjoyed. I hope we are able to go to another game this year.

Ice or Roller Skating
Would you believe me if I told you that Josh + I met at a roller skating rink?! Well it's true + still something we love to do together. Ice + roller skating are the perfect date, especially going into the winter months. Its a fun way to get out of the house + laugh at each other of you fall {+ believe me, you will}!

Concert
With my husband being a DJ + my love for singing + dancing, concerts are literally our JAM! There are a few anniversaries that we spent singing at the top of our lungs to our favorite artists! We recently celebrated this year's anniversary seeing C O L D P L A Y at Soldier Field in Chicago. We have also seen Maroon 5, Justin Timberlake {twice}, + Boyz II Men.

Comedy Show
One thing about relationships is learning to laugh, even if it's at yourself sometimes. Why not spend your date night at a comedy show?! Even though we haven't been to LaughFest here in Grand Rapids, we have seen Sinbad a few times {he's absolutely hilarious}.

Amusement Park
If you know anything about me, its that I can get a little crazy when it comes to rollercoasters. There's nothing more fun {to me} than literally screaming your face off all day long together. My favorite amusement park that we go to *almost* every year is
C E D A R P O I N T, with Busch Gardens coming in close second! Something about spending the day at an amusement park just brings the kid out of everyone.

Game Night
Bring out your competitive side with game night by hanging out at home playing childhood board games or heading to an arcade. What's better than watching your significant other win ALL of the tickets so you can take home the BIGGEST prize! Or doublin' up the draw fours during an intense game of Uno!
