Life, CURRENTLY || Not a Morning Mom - 4 Tips to a Productive Day

Thursday, August 10, 2017

Today's post is for all of my morning haters + night owls.

I have always said that if my days started at noon I would be G O L D E N. + imma be real for a minute...becoming BQ's mom has NOT made me a morning person! {Holla if ya hear me!} With that being said, I have mastered making the best of mornings + practically skipping them all together! {Shoutout to BQ for waking up at 9am EVERY SINGLE DAY!} Today I'm sharing my 4 tips to a more productive day.

Plan the Night Before
This tip is the MAJOR key! Making the most of the night before will save you so much time the next day! Especially if you like to hit the snooze button often. A few things I like to plan overnight - my outfit, hairstyles, + to-do lists. Having my outfit ready ahead of time eliminates the 10 minutes of me just staring at my closet. Tackling a hairstyle overnight gives you a reason to sleep in a little longer. + a finished to-do list kicks off your following day with major motivation. Which brings me to my next point...

Tackle Your Most Important Task First
Remember that to-do list? If you are like me, you either write your list in the order you need to do things throughout your day or from hardest to easiest. However you set up your list, make sure you tackle your most important {read - most difficult} task first. You start your day by completing that task + getting it out of the way, making time for you to do something fun like binge watch The Office on Netflix {I finally finished + am taking new Netflix recommendations}. If anything, you will feel more accomplished!

Simplify Your Makeup Routine
I don't know about you, but the last thing I want to do first thing in the AM is a full face of makeup. Especially when I have to get my mini ready too! I've found it helpful to simplify my makeup routine. Sometimes I even do a Makeup Free Monday {I wear more makeup on the weekends, so that's my day for a break.} + if you can't bare it all, figure out what feature you like to focus on + play that up instead. For me, I have to fill in my brows + curl my lashes. If I'm feeling really good, I'll add a pop of color with a red lip.

Capitalize on Your Peak Motivation Time
If you are like me, sometimes no matter how much you try, your morning may not go exactly how you planned. On days like that {or even any day} it's important that you capitalize on your peak motivation time. When do you feel most energized + productive? I try to blog + clean during Bentlee's nap time or at night after she is sleep. She's down to one nap a day which is usually about 2-3 hours + she goes to bed at 8pm every night. When I capitalize on those times, I get A LOT of #girlboss work done! {It's actually 11pm right now as I'm working on this blog post.}

  2. Thank you so much Kelli for stopping by + reading this post! I'm so happy that it was helpful. I feel like I have always planned the night before, even when I was younger. It really does help + I get to snooze a little longer each morning. Lol. I have been thinking about doing a 5 Minute Face blog post in the future, so I'll definitely keep that in mind as something you would want to see. Thanks again for your kind words + support!

    1. Thanks for commenting Alexis! Lists are my JAM! They really do help me to stay organized. I usually make one on Sunday nights for all the major things I need to do throughout the week. Otherwise each night I'll make one for the following day. So glad this blog post was helpful + that I'm not the only "not a morning mom". Lol.
