C U R R E N T L Y Styling || The Graphic Tee + The Groufit

Monday, December 4, 2017

Can you believe it's already December?! I feel like I just hit publish on my first post of 2017 about how to style chambray tops! This year has literally f l o w n by.
I am so excited to share one of my final style stories of 2017 with you. My content tends to slow down in the winter months, but this season I'm going to work at staying consistent despite how I feel about winter in general {not my fav lol}. {Don't worry, I have one more style post + a 2017 roundup to close out the year!} When the temps drop, my wardrobe naturally shifts to a more muted color scheme aka BLACK or GREY. Today, I'm sharing how to freshen up your winter uniform with a graphic tee + style a monochrome look aka "The Groufit".

First, let's talk about THE GRAPHIC TEE

One of the most common styling questions I receive from my style consultation clients is how to style a graphic tee. Or maybe if you are farther away from twenty than you'd like to admit {like this girl right here}, then you may wonder if you should even be wearing them in the first place. Well I'm here to tell you that a graphic tee is a style staple {no matter what age you are} + one of the easiest ways to showcase your personal style.

For me, winter brings out more casual vibes in my everyday style, so a graphic tee is a natural fit. I recently scored mine from Forever 21 for $10.80 {they start as low as $6 - major affordability factor}. The "EXTRA" tagline pretty much sums up E V E R Y T H I N G about me. I'm not only extra {read: dramatic} in personality, I am also the girl who is usually OVERDRESSED 90% of the time + has no shame wearing a gown to Trader Joe's. Basically, when choosing the perfect graphic tee, having fun with personality is key. Also, the minimalist approach of my tee makes it easy to dress up or down, without being too over the top. Another factor to consider, so you don't look or feel like you're trying too hard.

+ here comes THE GROUFIT.
When it comes to styling my graphic tee, I like to keep the casual vibes goin'.  Monochromatic looks {head to toe in one color} play best this time of year. This time around I decided to put my spin on a trending fashion look - The Groufit. If you haven't heard of this new style term, it's basically an ALL GREY LOOK that apparently Gigi Hadid Kendall Jenner LOVE this season, but I'm convinced that their wardrobe just naturally shifts to muted tones like the rest of us. To keep my look from looking completely one note, I like to add texture. This is where I steal my #instagramhusband's cardigan for an oversized look. My high waisted distressed jeans add the EXTRA edge that I LOVE! + I break up the grey tones with a pair of *my favorite* black sock boots.

    1. Thank you Nakeia! That is definitely the vibe I was going for. I love being dressed up, but our winters here in Michigan can be brutal, so it was nice to bust out a casual look for a change.
