Life, C U R R E N T L Y || Four Ways to Make the Most of Quality Time x JORD Wood Watches

Meet Josh, my #instagramhusband! He's not only the man behind my photos, but also the BEST dad to BQ + my absolute BEST friend! We will be married for seven years in August + together for nine. With BQ officially taking the driver's seat of our lives, we often find ourselves asking "where did that time go"?

As new parents, ANY time we get to spend together is v a l u a b l e. Even before we had BQ we said we would make it a PRIORITY to spend time together. I'm happy to say that we have stuck to that promise since she has been born. From a monthly date night, to an off duty weekend baby free, or binge watching Netflix after BQ falls asleep. It doesn't have to be over the top as long as we are together.

Today, I'm sharing a few ways to make the most out of quality time spent with the ones you love.

EVERYONE...STEP AWAY FROM THE PHONES! This one is listed first because it is SO hard! Especially since we live in such a tweet this, like that, take a picture of me fake drinking my My husband + I actually do majority of our day to day work from our phones, but in order to make sure our time is QUALITY we have to put the phones down. Social media ain't goin' no where + anything I want to scroll through will still be there at the end of the day. PLUS, Instagram has a new swipe feature, so we can post our entire night without blowing up your feed. {That's what it's for...right?!}

Take turns choosing date night or the dreaded "what's for dinner" question. Balance out your time by doing something the other truly enjoys. If you plan dinner + a movie, maybe you choose your favorite local eats + let them choose the flick. Last year there was this AMAZING fashion exhibit at our local art museum. I'm pretty sure my husband was NOT interested AT ALL, but he knew it was something I would love, so we went. On the other hand, my husband loves sports. I can't even tell you how many games I have been to rooting for the wrong team every.single.time + waiting around for an autograph he may or may not get. Despite any of that, seeing him happy makes me happy, so the compromise is worth it every time!

DON'T TALK ABOUT WORK OR KIDS! Depending on how busy you are or how many kids you have, time together may be far and few between. Since that time is valuable it should be spent focusing on each other. It may seem like your life revolves around work or kids {so what else would you even have to talk about}, but never forget there was a time in your relationship when it didn't.

One thing I love about our relationship is that we both have a sense of humor. We definitely have more silly times than serious ones + that makes for the best quality time. Whether its looking back at old photos from when we first met or tapping into our competitive side at home with a childhood game {I'm the UNO Queen, but he's the best at Monopoly}. Being able to laugh together makes any time you have that more enjoyable.

Go With The Flow
Lastly, when it comes to your time just go with the flow. It's so easy to get caught up in everything being "perfect" or stressing out over every little detail. While having a plan is ideal, it's not always going to happen. Do you know how many times we have planned to go to the "hottest" restaurant in town only to end up at Chipotle because there was a 3 HOUR WAIT!? {Ain't nobody got TIME for that...all puns intended!} Whatever you decide to do with your time, don't stress if plans change.

Carving out quality time is not always an easy task, but as long as you make it the most important one, it's ALWAYS worth it!

I recently gifted this watch to my husband to add to his ever growing, versatile watch collection. I just hope that whenever he reaches for this option, he's reminded that there is nothing more precious to me than the gift of time we spend together!
