"Travel like an explorer. Stay like a local." -Hotel Indigo

If you've been keeping up with me on Instagram, then you know my husband and I have been celebrating our 8th wedding anniversary! We recently traveled up to Traverse City, Michigan for a MUCH needed mini anniversary getaway. When I was researching spots to stay Hotel Indigo was immediately on my radar. They have over 100 locations w o r l d w i d e + their ONLY one in Michigan is two years old in Traverse City! I am so excited to share our recent stay at Hotel Indigo Traverse City + why it's the ultimate home away from home!

Location, Location, Location
I don't know about you, but when I'm on the hunt for the perfect spot to stay on vacation it's all about LOCATION! Hotel Indigo Traverse City is on PRIME real estate in the Warehouse District aka the heart of the downtown area. Not to mention it is also located directly across the street from Grand Traverse Bay which means incredible views and the perfect mix of city + outdoorsy vibes. There are also plenty of local restaurants + shops that are walking distance from the hotel so you can really put on your tourist hat + explore the city!

Local Vibes
"Travel like an explorer. Stay like a local." There is nothing truer than Hotel Indigo's tagline when it comes to the hotel itself. Even though Hotel Indigo has an international presence, no two hotels are alike. They take pride in celebrating the individuality of each hotel by tailoring the design to the city that they are in. While you may instantly think of cherries when Traverse City comes to mind, I was surprised to learn that T.C.'s history was initially built {literally} from logging. Hotel Indigo Traverse City has definitely highlighted that fact throughout their hotel design via the modern meets rustic vibes. I loved all of the woodsy elements like the custom artwork and furniture. There were also modern touches like being able to charge your cell phone in the lamps, an iHome in every room, + the ring light mirror in the bathroom. Who doesn't love the perfect selfie lighting while perfecting your makeup routine?!

Bar Scene Game Strong
While I did note that our stay was walking distance from plenty of restaurants, Hotel Indigo Traverse City's bar scene game is so strong you ain't even gotta leave the hotel! They have THREE bars inside of their space - a coffee bar, Warehouse KiTchen + Cork {restaurant + bar located in the hotel lobby}, + H&L Social {a rooftop bar}. Yes, you read that right, A ROOFTOP BAR! Even though Hotel Indigo Traverse City has been in the area for two years, H&L Social officially opened this summer + was the final element to complete the hotel aesthetic. We were so excited to be able to experience this space and since it rained the first day of our stay, it was standing room only the minute the weather cleared up and the rooftop bar opened. The pops of color via the modern furniture make it a fun space to hang out. Not to mention the breathtaking view of Grand Traverse Bay + BOTH peninsulas. Oh + of course the drinks were ON POINT! We both ordered martini's in Grapefruit + Lavender + they were some of the most refreshing drinks we have ever had.

Noteworthy Details
Here are few other details you should know about Hotel Indigo Traverse City...

-They offer valet parking on site with a daily fee with unlimited in + out privileges. There's also a valet button on the phone in each hotel room, so you can call for your car ahead of time.

-While I didn't get to work on my fitness this time around, there is a 24 hour fitness center on site complete with treadmills, ellipticals, weights, + pilates equipment.

-There's also an event space located at Hotel Indigo Traverse City. It accommodates 150 guests + can be used for meetings, social gatherings, + receptions.

To say we had the time of our lives is actually an understatement. I already told my husband every time we travel if it's not Hotel Indigo I DON'T WANT IT! Have you stayed at Hotel Indigo Traverse City or a H.I. location in a different area? Share your experience with me in the comments!

Shoutout + thank you to Traverse City Tourism for accommodating our stay. Also thank you to the staff at Hotel Indigo Traverse City for making our stay so special. Every single person we met was SO nice + made sure we had every single thing we needed {even if that meant sneaking me up to the rooftop bar before it opened to get a few shots for this blog post}!
