"I put my thang down flip it + reverse it." -Missy Elliot

Whenever I think about remixing looks, that '02 song lyric comes to mind. {Sorry not sorry for getting it stuck in your head the rest of this blog post. Hahaha.} It's been a minute since I've "flipped it + reversed it", but I'm always ready to get back to basics + why I started blogging in the first place. The C U R R E N T L Y Styling Three Ways series is back with a new addition + this time around is all about The Shirt Dress! + you know I had to partner up with one of my favorite local boutiques, Marie La Mode!

The Shirt Dress
One trend I am here for this season is PAJAMA GLAM! + I'm pretty sure I screamed out loud {as one does when they find something exciting} when I spotted this baby in Marie La Mode's mobile trailer! With a name like Pippy, it has to be good. Shirt dresses are also my favorite wardrobe staple because they are SO versatile! {This is my 4th addition to my closet.} I feel in love with the color, especially since I have recently seen Rihanna in a similar version of this dress in the same shade {so I am officially RIRI now, NBD}. I decided to keep the styling simple by adding my favorite pair of sock boots + leopard print earrings {also from Marie La Mode}.

Tucked Into a Leather Skirt
Since this dress also looks like a blouse, I naturally wanted to go for biz profesh vibes by layering a skirt over the dress. This is one of my tried and true wardrobe hacks, especially for fall. This dress paired well with my faux leather skirt. I live in anything the shade of wine this time of year so the unexpected color combo worked in my favor. The leopard booties also added a playful element to the overall look. Plus, leopard print is a neutral, so you can honestly wear it with ANY + EVERYTHING!

Kimono Over Your Favorite #OOTD
Layering the shirt dress as a kimono or duster is my FAVORITE way of styling! It elevates any look, while allowing your to get more mileage out of your current wardrobe. I kept my look underneath pretty neutral with grey tones. The cropped sweater and high waisted denim with lace up details keep my look edgy. I'm also always looking for an excuse to style my over the knee boots {I've also styled them multiple ways for this series} so this was the perfect look! You could also style your shirt dress over a graphic tee and leather pant or even an LBD with ankle boots.

Is the shirt dress part of your current wardrobe? If so, how do you like to style yours? Share your style secrets with me in the comments, along with what piece you would like to see styled next on the blog!

Shoutout to Marie La Mode for partnering with me again + always knowing me better than I know myself! Click here to shop The Pippy Shirt Dress and check out what's new this season via their website.

Thanks for hanging out with me today! It's a rainy day here in West Michigan, so I plan to be wrapped up in a blanket on the couch in my husbands sweatshirt for the rest of the day.  Happy Friday + Happy Styling!

    1. Thank you! That's definitely the way I style my shirt dresses the most. It looks put together + effortless at the same time, which is ideal when chasing around a toddler for a living. Lol!
