T R A V E R S E C I T Y - After we visited for the first time in August, we knew we were going to come back ASAP! Well, we got to hang out again in T.C. + it was just as beautiful as when we left! This time around our trip was two-fold - Grand Traverse Resort & Spa and Traverse City Tourism invited us back to experience spring in the city, while my husband also had an event to DJ downtown for the Epilepsy Foundation's first Summer Stroll of the season. I'm excited to share my second Traverse City Travel Guide of all things stay, eats, sips, + local love!

C U R R E N T Style
Michigan spring has been nonexistent + that was still the case when we headed up to Traverse City! I had been checking the forecast everyday, hoping for a day above 60 degrees. Spoiler Alert - it didn't happen, but we made the best of it! I ended up layering majority of my looks with a bomber, leather, or denim jacket. Since rain was originally in the forecast, I packed all of the closed toe shoe options - loafers, block heels, + platform converse sneakers. I bounced back + forth between casual + dressy looks since we had a few swanky dinners on our itinerary, along with winery hoppin' + kept my accessories minimal. Of course I rocked a bold lip every day, even though I knew I would be drinking all of the wine + eating all of the charcuterie boards.

C U R R E N T Stays
We had been planning our stay with Grand Traverse Resort & Spa since they invited us to visit in January. They DID NOT disappoint! Grand Traverse Resort & Spa is located right outside of the city, but was still easy to navigate + not far away from anything we wanted to do offsite. We stayed in their Tower King Bay View Room on the 9th floor + the panoramic view of Grand Traverse Bay every morning was unreal! The aesthetic was on point + complete with the comfiest bed I have ever slept in, a couch, Murphy bed inside of the tv stand, and glass shower. One of the many unique features of Grand Traverse Resort is their Tower Gallery of Shops located inside of their location. From women's retail to a candy shop, there was no shortage of variety! We experienced two of their five on site restaurants and golf simulator. Not to mention they are ranked in the top 25 of Spa's of America (a mani/pedi will definitely be on my list of things to do next time around).

C U R R E N T Eats
If you thought we ate good the first time we were in Traverse City, this trip definitely one upped all of that! Here's where we ended up getting our foodie fix during our visit.

- Aerie Restaurant & Lounge - this is a two part food story {lol}
 - Dinner - Aerie is conveniently located on the 16th floor of Grand Traverse Resort & Spa. Don't get me started on their panoramic view of Grand Traverse Bay! It is absolutely S T U N N I N G at sunset. Now on to the food! We had dinner reservations for the first night of our stay. After we took all of the pictures, we naturally ordered all of the food. We ended up ordering Prawns & Grits, Aerie Salad {ONE OF THE BEST SALADS I HAVE EVER HAD HANDS DOWN}, Pork Belly, Bolognese Pasta {a special dish for a limited time}, Scallops, + the Revier Black Angus 14oz Ribeye. I ordered the Leelanau 72 {with gin from Mammoth Distilling}, while my husband sipped Woodford Reserve. Oh + I can't forget their Artisanal Cheese & Charcuterie Presentation {D E L I C I O U S}! Everything tasted SUPER fresh + came out at the perfect time!
 - Brunch - So our waitress during dinner talked up Aerie's Sunday brunch + encouraged us to make a reservation. In true Kherington fashion, I made a reservation the morning of + hoped there was a spot left! Fortunately for us, there was a 10:15a available before check out + we were ON IT! We all received a complimentary glass of champagne or mimosa to start. Their brunch was an e x t e n s i v e  buffet style + our waitress advised us to "follow the food". I ended up with a made to order omelette with ALL OF THE FIXINGS, bacon, apple French toast, fresh fruit, + mashed potatoes {yes, I went back for seconds}. The natural light flooded the entire space + it was somehow an entirely different experience than the night before.

- Sweetwater American Bistro - Also located at Grand Traverse Resort & Spa. We were looking to grab something for lunch in between my husband's DJ event + the golf simulator. It was super convenient to be able to eat again on site. We ended up splitting the Bistro Wings + Fries! They were d e l i c i o u s + super saucy {which is a MUST for me}. Their playlist that day was also on point + I found myself dancing in my seat the entire time {which is also a MUST for me}.

- Bourbons 72 - This was our second dinner reservation during our trip! Bourbons 72 is a steakhouse located inside of Turtle Creek Casino. When I found out there name came from the 72 kinds of bourbons at their location, I knew my husband wouldn't be disappointed! I ordered their Sangria Punch as my cocktail {SO YUMMY} + Maryland Lump Crab Cakes as my appetizer. Their Filet Mignon + Iron Skillet Baked Mashed Potatoes were SO FLAVORFUL! Ashley + Doug ordered the New York Strip Loin + B72 Cold-Smoked Baby Back Ribs for dinner {which also looked AMAZING}. The restaurant was gorgeous + we are now convinced that all of our meals need to come out on a cart.

C U R R E N T Sips
If you know anything about Traverse City it's that there is never a shortage of wine! Of course, that was number one on our list of things to do, especially since there were a few we weren't able to visit last summer. {C U R R E N T TC Tip: Winery hours shift the first week of May, so if you want get your sip on during extended hours be sure to visit then!}

- Bower's Harbor Vineyards - This time around we stuck to Old Mission Peninsula + this was our first stop {recommended by Traverse City Tourism}. It had more of a rustic vibe, with two outdoor patios {with heaters}. Surprisingly, they had an extensive CIDER selection + that's what we ended up coming home with. We brought back two 16oz baby growlers of their Oaked Apple + Cherry Apple Ciders, along with a cherry barbecue sauce we sampled while waiting!

- Bonobo Winery - This winery was on our list last time, but we didn't get a chance to make it! One of the many reasons we stopped there this time is that they are the only location open until 9PM {talk about a Traverse City turn up}! The aesthetic was also rustic, yet modern with a variety of seating areas. Their patio was an absolute d r e a m with a gorgeous view. We ordered their standard tasting of 5 wines - our favorite was the 2018 Riesling {which we ended up taking home}. Their charcuterie board looked amazing + will be on my list of things to try when we go back again {we stopped there before dinner, but it was tempting}.

- Mari Vineyards - When you drive up to Mari Vineyards, you feel like you're headed to a castle! It has such a historic feel + sits on 60 acres of vineyards! We immediately thought about how amazing it would be to head there in the summer + take in the view from their lower + upper level patios. We enjoyed their standard wine tasting, along with a charcuterie board. We were actually able to taste more than the 5 we picked + ended up taking home their 2016 Merlot + 2016 Scriptorium Riesling.

- 2 Lads - This was one of our last stops before we left town. We actually went to 2 Lads when we visited in August, but we had to get back up there for the views + wine! This time around we ended up purchasing the 2017 Rola Red + 2017 Rosè. This is also where we learned about the Mac N Cheese event that will take place in November on Old Mission Peninsula! I've never wanted to skip summer, but that just sounds like something I need to experience this year!

- BLK\MRKT - I already knew I would end up at BLK\MRKT again! They have the BEST coffee in town + we ended up there before we headed back home. I ordered their seasonal latte - The Sea Change. Once I heard it had lavender + vanilla I was SOLD + it was SO GOOD!

C U R R E N T Local Love
- Sincerely, Betty - While Ashley + I were shooting our looks downtown we stumbled upon this super cute boutique! Their pieces had this whimsical + vintage charm that I always hope to find when I'm visiting a different city. I am having MAJOR regrets for not purchasing the Barbie purse in the window. Ashley did end up getting a cool pair of saddle style loafers that were legit made for her! I guess that means I will have to make a trip back!

- Traverse City Mural - Whenever I'm in a new city, I'm always on the hunt for the perfect mural photo op! I was so happy when Traverse City Tourism suggested their TC Mural! It located on the side of the Kilwins building downtown and looks so cool in person. I loved the postcard vibes + was so happy that Ashley + I were able to snap a pic there!

- V1 Golf Academy Golf Simulator - Since we had the boys with us aka our Instagram husbands we knew we needed to add something to the itinerary that they would enjoy. Grand Traverse Resort & Spa suggested their Golf Simulator at the Golf Academy. It's located at the resort {just a short drive on location} + now under new ownership by Adam Schriber, a TC native + PGA Tour player! You can reserve between 30 + 120 minutes year round to perfect your swing {or if you're like me LEARN THE BASICS}. Since the weather was pretty chilly that day, the virtual simulator was a cool way to still get the TC golfing experience. For the record, I totally lost + Ashley had the best swing of all of us {but we were playing for fun, right}.

- Tumbleweeds - The minute we arrived at Grand Traverse Resort & Spa, I knew I was going to visit Tumbleweeds at some point! It's an on-site toy store with all things Melissa + Doug! Even though we didn't have Bentlee with us I had to bring her something home. We ended up getting her the Sandwich Making Set + Learning Mats with the alphabet + numbers {because she needs something educational sometimes lol}.

T H A N K Y O U to Grand Traverse Resort & Spa & Traverse City Tourism for making our stay so special! It was much needed time away + a trip we will never forget!

If you're heading to Traverse City, Michigan this year, I hope this travel guide is helpful! In the meantime, I will be doing extensive research on their Mac N Cheese Festival in the fall! Who knows, maybe that will be it's own guide too!
